Your First Visit
Your first dental examination includes a complete review of the medical and dental history and this includes radiographs. Based on your individual needs and the diagnosis of our dentists, a personalized plan is designed for your treatment. To start with, we would do a complete cleaning of your teeth based on the current condition.
We ensure that we do a thorough examination on your first visit for all new patients and if we are busy, we might need to schedule the emanation on another day. We might need to schedule a second visit to discuss comprehensive treatment if you have complex medical history. To assist us on your first consultation, please provide us with this information:
- Old dental x-rays
- List of prescription medicines that you are taking
- Completed medical or dental forms to make the process faster
Note: All patients under the age of 18 years require parent or guardian to accompany them on the consultation visits.
It is best to inform the staff about medical conditions that you have prior to any dental procedure that we undertake. These ailments include artificial heart valves, diabetes, high blood pressure, and artificial joints and rheumatic fever. In case you are on medication such as heart medications, aspirin, anti-coagulant therapy or need medicines before dental cleaning procedures, please let us know.
We use digital DEXIS radiography which uses cutting-edge digital X-ray procedures and allows us to take the necessary X-rays or radio graphs to diagnose your dental conditions. You may have previous radio graphs but unless they are the most recent DEXIS digital radio graphs, we might need to take new ones to diagnose your dental issues. Usually other radio graphs do not give us an accurate view of your current conditions.
To treat you, it is important to take the right X-rays and if there are no proper x-rays, we’ll need to take new ones to formulate a plan of action. As per our dental clinic policies, we need to take these to check on the current condition of your teeth and jaw to diagnose the presence of dental disease accurately. Whether your insurance covers the radio graphs or doesn’t do it, we will do whatever is necessary to offer you the best treatment. As a new patient, on your first visit to the hospital, we will take a series of complete mouth panoramic and normal radio graphs. Additionally, your consulting dentist will decide the other radio graphs that are needed for additional diagnosis.
